I love Nick with all of my heart. However... He is the hardest person to motivate and encourage to obey. For 3 years, we have been working with the same 3 preschool teachers. And for 3 years we have been discussing new, different ways to catch Nicks eye and help his behavior. It has been a challenge for sure. But I sit and think of all the things our little boy has gone through in his little life, and you know what? I would probably be tired of being told what to do too. Ha ha. I have been talking to family a lot about this. My Mom said something the other day that made me stop and think. We are getting really good at telling Nick his bad consequences, but not really hyping up the GOOD consequences. Clark and I talked a bit about what we could do. And I like to think we don't spoil Nick too much, but we thought it was the right time and the right way to use it to hopefully encourage him to be a little better each day.
Nick doing great on his patching!
Today we all went to Walmart and picked out a blue basket and a green basket. We picked out things such as, stickers, sketch book, dollar cars/tractors, balls, candy. And a few bigger things like, stars for his roof, etch sketch, army guys, paint set and stuff like that. And this is how it will work... We will keep a daily chart with stickers. Each day he is trying really hard to be good and obey, he will get to put a sticker on the calendar and pick a small toy out of the blue basket. And at the end of the week if he has been trying hard at school and at home, if he has stickers on every day he gets to pick a toy out of the green basket.
