ON MY MIND...

So we've moved this this wonderful area and we have so much fun here. Nick and I love going to the park all the time. The other day there was this boy who was at the park too. He kind of gravitated to us and started making conversation. He was 8, and was a really friendly boy. If we were by the swings, so was he. If Nick wanted to slide, so would he. He started saying that he was in foster care. And he wanted a bike, but his foster Mom wouldn't get him one because he wouldn't be there long. When he said that, my heart sunk. How sad? Not necessarily the bike, but that a child would know so much. And I don't know the whole story for sure, but I just hope that boy is loved. Every child should know they are loved! He was such a sweet boy and I hope wherever he ends up he will be happy.

Life really can be SO hard. I just doesn't seem fair sometimes that it has to be hard for kids. But, it sounds like just playing with you guys (and maybe being able to share some of his thoughts and feelings - with a neutral, but caring person) helped to make at least that day a little easier for him. Thanks for sharing this with me and helping me to see (even more than I ALREADY knew) what a caring person you are. :)
